Commercial Generator Replacement and Upgrades

Replace or upgrade an existing generator in Miami-Dade, Broward or Monroe. Review ATS reuse, fuel systems, access and temporary-power needs.

Replace the equipment with a plan for the existing building

An old or unreliable generator does not automatically call for an identical replacement. The building may have changed, the new equipment may have different interfaces, and components around the generator may need attention.

Genesis Prime Group provides generator replacement, upgrades and relocation services across Miami-Dade, Broward and Monroe Counties. Start with the reason for replacement and the available system records so the proposed scope addresses the actual problem.

Is the problem the generator or the surrounding system?

A recent failed test, recurring alarm, starting problem or service report provides more useful information than age alone. Share the findings, previous repairs and any change in building loads. A specific repair may be appropriate in some cases; a replacement review should not assume every reported problem requires new equipment.

When a replacement is justified, identify the objective. Is it restoring existing capability, increasing capacity, changing fuel, relocating equipment or modernizing the installation? That decision affects what is reviewed and priced.

What can remain, and what must change?

Transfer equipment and electrical distribution. Document the existing ATS, its condition and the proposed electrical arrangement. Reuse needs a compatibility review. Generator replacement and ATS replacement are separate scope decisions.

Fuel storage and supply. Identify tanks, day tanks, pumps, connections and monitoring equipment. For gas-fueled units, evaluate the proposed fuel requirements rather than assuming the old supply remains suitable.

Pad, enclosure and support. Compare the new unit's size, weight, connections and service access with the existing installation. Reusing a pad or platform is a design decision, not an automatic cost saving.

Controls and system interfaces. Identify alarms, remote indications and other equipment connected to the existing system. Required changes belong in the proposal.

Our installation services includes pads, enclosures, exhaust and muffler systems, fuel tanks and day tanks, allowing these related scopes to be considered with the replacement rather than ignored.

Plan the period without the old generator

Before removal, establish how the building will operate during the work. Identify any required temporary-power arrangement, approved shutdown windows and the parties responsible for notifications and testing. A rental generator is not automatically part of the permanent replacement price.

Delivery and removal can be a significant project activity. Review equipment access, lifting, staging, disposal responsibilities and restoration. A unit that once fit through an access route does not prove that today's removal and installation sequence will be straightforward.

Replacement documentation and approvals

Available plans, original permit records, nameplate information and maintenance reports help define the project. The applicable building authority determines the submittal path for the actual address and proposed changes. Do not treat the word replacement as a blanket permit exemption.

Engineering responsibilities and specialty trade work must be identified. Design changes arising from field discoveries or equipment substitutions need a documented review before they become unapproved work in the field.

Build a comparable replacement budget

Ask for separate treatment of new equipment, old-equipment removal, design and permits, lifting and transport, electrical work, fuel work, support modifications, temporary power, testing and restoration. The estimate should distinguish verified reuse from allowances that depend on further investigation.

The final comparison is not simply the price of two generator units. It is the scope required to return the building to the agreed operating condition.

Can we reuse the existing ATS?

Possibly. Provide its nameplate and available documents. Condition and compatibility must be evaluated before reuse is included in the final scope.

Can you relocate a generator rather than replace it?

Generator relocation is among our services. Suitability, condition, site requirements and the installation work need review before deciding whether relocation is the appropriate approach.

Does replacement eliminate future service needs?

No. Establish the equipment-specific maintenance plan, warranty responsibilities and required testing as part of turnover.
