Generator Load-Bank Testing in South Florida

Generator load-bank testing in Miami-Dade, Broward and Monroe. Resistive or reactive options, defined test duration and documented results.

Define the test before scheduling the equipment

Genesis Prime Group offers generator load-bank testing for properties in Miami-Dade, Broward and Monroe Counties. Our services include portable load banks, resistive and reactive testing, two-hour, four-hour and extended-duration testing, building-load testing, and test reports.

A quote starts with the generator information, the reason for the test and the required documentation. The correct procedure depends on the equipment and the project's requirements, not simply a standard duration selected from a website.

A test scope is more than running the engine

A load bank applies a controlled electrical load for a defined test. Resistive and reactive capabilities are not interchangeable: manufacturer resources describe combined and reactive equipment for testing at non-unity power factors. Specify the required load characteristics rather than assuming every portable load bank performs the same test.

The generator data, connection arrangement, required loading sequence and acceptance criteria must be established for the job. Building-load testing is separately identified in the available services; it is not automatically the same activity as testing with an external load bank.

Keep generator, ATS and integrated tests distinct

A load-bank test does not automatically prove every transfer-switch function, elevator response or other building-system sequence. State which equipment and interfaces will be tested and which parties must attend.

Our ATS offering includes testing and coordination with the elevator company. That attendance and procedure should be specified when applicable, not assumed to be included in every generator test price.

State the purpose and applicable requirements

A commissioning test, a maintenance investigation and a test requested by an inspector may have different documentation needs. Send the inspection comment, specification or other requirement that prompted the request.

For testing associated with a compliance program, identify the applicable standard, adopted edition, equipment category and required procedure. Send the relevant specification or inspection comment with the request. No universal NFPA interval, loading percentage or test duration is stated here.

Prepare the site and the operating plan

Provide the equipment nameplate, fuel type, voltage and phase when known, and available drawings. The testing team needs to review the connection and access arrangement, work area, heat discharge, cables and operating restrictions as applicable.

Agree on whether the generator or building equipment may be taken out of service, who authorizes the test and how a deficiency or interrupted test will be handled. Fuel requirements, specialist attendance and repeat visits should be addressed in the scope.

Reports and next actions

The test proposal should specify the report: equipment identification, test purpose, procedure, applied load and duration, recorded observations, limitations and findings. What is measured and reported depends on the agreed test.

A report documents a test under stated conditions. It does not certify indefinite future performance or close every unrelated equipment deficiency. Corrective work and retesting should be authorized and recorded separately when required.

Can we request a two-hour or four-hour test?

Those durations are part of our services. Send the applicable requirement so the actual procedure and suitability can be confirmed.

Is testing automatically included in maintenance?

Only when the maintenance agreement defines the test and reporting. Routine service, load-bank testing and transfer testing should remain clearly identified.

What happens when a problem is found?

The findings and limitations should be documented. Repair, additional investigation or a replacement review may then be proposed, depending on the issue and owner authorization.
